Understanding wagering requirements and bonus terms

Vaultline Editorial7 min read

Casino bonuses are often advertised prominently, but they come with conditions that are important to understand before accepting any offer.

What is a wagering requirement?

A wagering requirement (also called a playthrough requirement) is the number of times you must bet a bonus amount before you can withdraw any winnings derived from it. For example, a £20 bonus with a 30x wagering requirement means you must wager £600 before withdrawing.

Game weighting

Not all games contribute equally to wagering requirements. Slot games typically contribute 100%, while table games such as blackjack or roulette may contribute only 10% or even 0%. Always read the terms carefully.

Time limits

Most bonuses expire after 7–30 days. If you do not complete the wagering requirement within this period, the bonus and any associated winnings are typically forfeited.

Vaultline's position on bonuses

We believe transparent terms are a key indicator of a trustworthy operator. We assess wagering requirements as part of our review process. Operators with fair, clearly presented terms score higher in our assessments.
